Accommodation
The reception rooms on the ground floor are a large drawing room with grand piano, library and dining room. A large billiard room with full size billiard table is on the first floor.
There are 6 double bedrooms (4 double bedded and 2 twin bedded), 1 single bedroom and 4 bathrooms. There is also a twin bedded children's annexe. These are all on the first floor except for 1 double bedded room, the single room and 1 bathroom which are on the floor above in their own corner turret.
The house is fully central heated and there are open log fires in all the main living rooms.
Delicious cordon bleu cooking is provided. Great care is taken over menus and agreed in advance.
Sporting Activities
Sea trout fishing (in season) and claypigeon shooting can be arranged on the estate. There are several golf courses nearby and Lytham St Annes golf club is 45 minutes. Pony trekking is available in the Yorkshire dales. We are 55 minutes from Aintree racecourse.
OPEN DAYS
The Gardens & Keep are open to the public for special events during the year. You can explore the beautiful gardens and river walk and visit the walled garden nursery to view the display borders. Plants are available for sale.
For the May/June weekends the keep is open and you can climb the tower to see the stunning views from the top. An exhibition by talented local artists is also open in the castle drawing room.
On the military weekend there is a large display of World War 2 military vehicles. Each day includes a live battle re-enactment and a road run for the vehicles round the local villages. Refreshments and drinks are available in the village institute for each of the open days and on the field for the military weekend:-
